Welcome to the  Derby Dead Pool
"The sickest site on the Internet...a ghoulish competition..." – News of the World

"Arguably the world's most popular 'Dead Pool' competition" – BBC

"No-one gets hurt in this game of death" - San Francisco Chronicle

"A macabre celebrity death pool site" - Metro UK

"I draw up my list.  It's a game, a very amusing little game that they play in every drawing-room in Paris whenever an 'Immortal' passes on: the game of Death." – Guy de Maupassant, Bel-Ami (1885)

THE BASICS – WHAT IS THE DERBY DEAD POOL?

Simple – it's an online competition to guess which famous people won't make it to the end of the current year.

If they're elderly, ill, or just live a high-risk lifestyle, stick 'em in your team, and for each one whose death you correctly predict, you'll score points.

DDP was dreamt up in Derby, England (hence the name...) by Big Iain back in 1996, then was run from 2003-2007 by Siegfried Baboon and Rude Kid. From 2008-2009, it was run by Octopus of Odstock, but from 2010 onwards it's the turn of The Man in Black to run the DDP....

LATEST NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS – 25th July 2010

It's the summer holidays, and while millions of commuters breathe a sigh of relief as the 4x4 driving bullymothers are off the roads, for the time being at least, Death still comes calling. And it comes calling for: Radio DJ Ali Booker, who bags a proper obit. Another late obit snatcher is countercultural jester Tuli Kupferberg. Political WAG and writer Edna Healey leaves her more famous husband Denis for pastures eternal. But the most notable death of the week is of the controversial but brilliant snooker star Alex 'Hurricane' Higgins, who conceeds his final frame at the snookers required stage. Grobler's Stiff Ones lead is now just one point. And My Name Is Larry! is the player of the month for June with 22 points.

In other news... Lindsay Lohan the child star turned tabloid fodder, is serving time. Odious British nationalist Nick Griffin is refused entry to the Oueen's garden party at Buckingham Palace. Probably to save him the embarassment of meeting someone even more right wing than him...her husband!. And block-headed PM David Cameron (surely a pick for next year) meets US President Barack Obama and discuss the controversial relase of deadpool darling Adbelbaset Al Megrahi.

The DDP History page is now fully updated and will be updated on a monthly basis. The Inane Analysis for 2010 should also be on its way soon...
