Menahem Pressler

NO MO’ BEAUX

Classical pianist Menahem Pressler has died aged 99. After debuting at Carnegie Hall in 1947, he saw his most lasting success as the bedrock of the Beaux Arts Trio, a piano trio that cycled through various cellists and violinists whilst Pressler remained the only constant. A German-born Jew who fled the country post-Kristallnacht, he paid occasional visits to his homeland in the 20th century and made his debut with the Berlin Philharmonic aged 90. Pressler was a longtime DDP perennial via the Dead And Dusted collective, and Reptile’s B Team took it to a duet this time around after noting a picture at his 99th birthday that screamed “not everyone that makes it to 99 makes it to 100”.
