French cyclist Robert Marchand has died at the premature age of 109. Marchand had cycled in his youth and in the 1940s, before returning to it as an interest in his 60s. His cycling fame became ore famous when he continued on competitive cycling after his 100th birthday, winning fans and Guinness Book of Records spots. He continued cycling for exercise until he turned 108. Outside of cycling, Marchand was a Paris fireman, a Canadian lumberjack, a Venezuelan sugar farmer, a WW2 POW, and a lifelong member of the French Communist Party. He was picked by three teams, including Gray Panthers and The Old Ones are the Pests.
