THE VERY MOURNING CATERPILLAR

In the light of the moon, an old author sat at a typewriter.

One Sunday morning the warm sun came up and – pop! – out of the writer’s mind came a tiny and very hungry caterpillar.

It started to look for some food..

Childrens author Eric Carle has sadly died aged 90. Carle wrote Brown Bear Brown Bear What Do You See and several other books which sold over 170 million copies. However, you, I and the entire world know him best as author and illustrator of kids classic Ernest Goes to School. Sorry, I mean The Very Hungry Caterpillar. The caterpillar who eats and eats and eats until it gets a sore tummy and turns into a butterfly has been praised for getting generations of very small children learning to read. It sold around 55 million copies. Eric Carle was picked by 2 teams: Last Christmas, and Now That’s What I Call Emeli Sande’s In Memoriam. He is survived by his family: two children, a sister, and a very hungry caterpillar who became a beautiful butterfly.
