Rafael Viñoly

ARCHITECT OF HIS OWN DEMISE

Architect Rafael Viñoly has died aged 78, or 20 in architect years. The Uruguayan-born Viñoly designed north of 600 edifices across the globe ranging from hotels to airports. He was perhaps best known for the cartoony-looking “Walkie-Talkie” skyscraper in London, which has been a point of controversy throughout the years for its distinct top-heavy design and solar glare issues that once melted parts of a parked car. Theme team The Politicorpses, which is currently labeled in our system as a political theme team but looks to have switched to architectural stylings, gets a 10-4 from the Reaper’s walkie talkie.
