Jane Withers

WITHERING JANE

Jane Withers, one of the most popular Hollywood child actresses of the 1930s, has died aged 95. She appeared as Shirley Temple’s bête noir, Joy Smythe, in Bright Eyes in 1934. In later life she appeared in a series of Comet cleaning TV adverts, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and yes, the obligatory episode of Murder She Wrote. The latter must have been on a Buy One Get One Free Offer as she showed up in two episodes of the cult Angela Lansbury crime fighting drama. She was picked by 4 teams including Pool Ghoul and Eternity Tours.
