THE LAST FAREWELL
Folksy balladeer Roger Whittaker has died aged 87. The Kenyan-born Whittaker often incorporated whistling into a string of hits that included “Durham Town (The Leavin’)”, “I Don’t Believe in If Anymore”, “The Last Farewell”, and Des O’Connor duet “The Skye Boat Song”. He counted Elvis and George H. W. Bush among his fans, and accumulated so strong a German fanbase that Bild broke news of his death. Whittaker’s the choice (how’s that for a throwback DDP reference) for two music teams.
