Actress Marie Alice has died aged 85. Predominantly a stage actress, she originated the role of Rose Maxson in August Wilson’s Fences and won a Tony for her portrayal. She also notched an Emmy for playing soft-spoken dorm director Lettie Bostic in A Different World, a Cosby Show spinoff that benefited from having a lot less Bill Cosby. In film she was the mother to Supremes expies in Sparkle, and was the insightful Oracle in the third Matrix entry after the actress in the first two died. She was picked by Most Unique Picks 2022, who only has 18 uniques and does not fulfill their title.
