Two more hits to chronicle this week as we reach mid-February amid a continuing dry spell for deadpooling:
Music
Israeli musician Matti Caspi has lost his battle with cancer. He started out as part of a trio called The Three Fatsoes during his IDF service and went on to tour with Leonard Cohen during the Yom Kippur war. By the end of his life he’d released over 1000 songs, collabarated with some of the most well known Israeli artists of the last half-century, and even found time to dabble in a bit of bigamy!
Sport
Roy “The Baron of the Bullpen” Face is no more, passing away at the age of 97. He spent almost his entire career playing for the Pittsburgh Pirates as a pitcher and still holds the National League record for wins in relief. A combination of his unusual name and a mere two appearances for the Detroit Tigers at the end of his career leads to five points for the theme teams Rolls of the Tongue, and Made in Detroit.
