SLUDGE MILLS LANE
Pugnacious boxing figure Mills Lane is out for the count aged 85. Though initially a boxer himself with moderate success, it was as a referee where he shone most, officiating north of one hundred championship fights with his “Let’s get it on!” catchphrase. This included the infamous ear-munching spar for which Lane disqualified Mike Tyson. A judge to the side, he briefly forayed into the court show market with Judge Mills Lane, and gained an MTV audience in the late 90s and early aughts as one of the referees in stop-motion superstar slugfest Celebrity Deathmatch. He died 20 years after suffering a debilitating stroke, and was a unique for Dead and Deader IV: No, no, no, no, no, (…) There’s No Living!.
