Masazo Nonaka

Twelve days after the death of America’s oldest person, we say “sayonara” to the world’s oldest man. Masazo Nonaka was one of an estimated 70,000 centenarians in Japan, who was an innkeeper during his working days. He was born four days before Clara Bow, just to give you a rough idea of how old he was. He now hands the world’s oldest man title over to Germany’s Gustav Gerneth, the last surviving man born in 1905.

As a side note, we’ve had our first “famous for being ill” death of the year. These deaths will not be reported on the homepage out of respect for the families of the deceased, but their passings will be recorded in the rest of the site. And this particular cancer mum becomes GUN Away’s fourth hit of the year already.
