Though outflanked in fame by his brother, Angela’s Ashes scribe Frank, Malachy McCourt nevertheless claimed a diverse range of celebrity. He acted in soaps such as Ryan’s Hope and and All My Children, wrote memoirs detailing his life in Ireland and America, and staged a futile third-party bid for governor of New York. If you thought Jimmy Carter makes a mockery of deadpoolers, McCourt entered hospice in 2022, then was released months later as he wasn’t dying quickly enough! He was 91 and five teams kept the faith.
