Frank Williams

THE SICKER

In the first year where deadpoolers no longer have to worry about disambiguating him from the F1 chap, penultimate Dad’s Army remnant Frank Williams has died aged 90. Ian Lavender is now the very last regular among the Walmington-on-Sea denizens. Williams began his career working in a theatre troupe ran by Jimmy Perry, which would prove fortuitous years later once Perry and David Croft created Dad’s Army. Williams’s character, the well-meaning-yet-inept Reverend Timothy Farthing, was simply known as the Vicar and frequently got wrapped up in the escapades of the doddery platoon. The Vicar was also noted for his love of scotch and ambiguous sexuality. Other roles included a Monty Python’s Flying Circus cameo and another Perry/Croft-sitcom religious character in You Rang, M’Lord?, and in 2016 he reprised the Vicar in the panned Dad’s Army movie. His name shall be very cross(ed out) for four teams.
