DUGGIE A HOLE
Actor, comedian, and incumbent King Rat Duggie Brown has met his mousetrap aged 82. The younger brother of Corrie’s Lynne Perrie, his presence on rapid-fire gagfest The Comedians led to frequent appearances in 70s/80s light entertainment programmes such as 3-2-1. His acting career balanced his funnyman reputation with serious roles, including a bit part as milkman in Kes and three separate characters in Corrie. He was a member of the Grand Order of Water Rats, an entertainment charity fraternity that dates to the music hall era, and was its leader for the past two years. Nicholas Parsons was his immediate predecessor, leaving astute deadpoolers awaiting the 2023 King Rat announcement with bated breath. Gooseberry Crumble smelled a rat to the tune of unique points.
