SHANNEN IS GONE, I HOPE SHE’S DRIFTING OUT TO SEA
90s sensation Shannen Doherty has died aged 53. First known as a child actress on Little House on the Prairie, she gained further momentum with a string of teen dramas and comedies such as the morbid Heathers. It was riding the Aaron Spelling train that took her to superstardom as the driven high schooler Brenda Walsh in Beverly Hills, 90210. Clashes on the set fueled a tabloid-propelled “bad girl” image that portended her exit from 90210. Her second round with Spelling – that of witch Prue Halliwell in Charmed – followed a similar trajectory of massive popularity before leaving after on-set tensions.
As a reminder of the fucked up labyrinth that is the US insurance system, Doherty was left without health insurance in 2014 due to a lapse in payment, and by the time she regained it was diagnosed with advanced breast cancer. Her bout zigzagged between remission and recurrence, but by the 2020 her cancer was here to stay, and recent spreads kept countless deadpoolers on lookout. 157 teams were there to DEL Shannen, bringing some dark horses into the top ten such as It’s A Grim World After All and Fade to Black.
