Sam Lloyd

SAM IS SCRUBBED

Actor Sam Lloyd has died of cancer aged 56. Sam Lloyd appeared in Seinfeld, 3rd Rock from the Sun, NYPD Blue and Malcolm in the Middle. However, it was his recurring role as lawyer Ted Buckland in 95 episodes of popular sitcom Scrubs for which he became a recognisable face all over the world. Have you met Ted…asked no one, because that was a different sitcom all together. The suicidal lawyer who never won a case, has long standing mother trouble, and was the most successful lawyer to ever graduate from…Alaska, was one of the most popular characters in the show.

Lloyd also appeared in Flubber and in the movie Galaxy Quest as Neru, one of the aliens who kidnap Alan Rickman and friends thinking the Star Trek pastiche actors are actual space war heroes. When not acting, he played bass guitar in a Beatles tribute band, and sang in the a cappella group The Blanks, who also appeared in Scrubs.

Sam had seemed to be on the mend after some experimental immunotherapy appeared to zap his cancer last summer. Unfortunately for many DDP teams, but more unfortunately for Sam Lloyd, this Indian Summer proved short lived. The cancer returned with a vengeance in March and left him little time left to live. One of his last TV roles was in Dr Ken opposite Community and The Masked Singer’s own Ken Joeng. Now that is truly a fate worse than brain cancer.

As a result of remissions one two snicker snack, Lloyd missed the Drop 40 placing he would surely gained otherwise. 25 teams went for him, including Deceased Hose, Droller Coaster, Jackie Treehorn, The Misers, Shaun of the Dead 69, The Living End and Worm Farmer.
