Robin Parkinson

MONSIEUR LECARK

UK comedy actor Robin Parkinson has died aged 92. His best known role was as doddery forger Monsieur Ernest LeClerc in the latter series of ‘Allo ‘Allo! He hurriedly took over the role from Derek Royle, who died after one year of playing the character. Amidst bit parts in numerous other popular sitcoms, he also endeared himself to a younger audience as the narrator of 80s children’s programme Button Moon. His daughter Sarah, a TV producer and Mrs. Paul Merton, died in 2003 after a public battle with breast cancer. That she was unpicked in that year’s DDP shows how different a universe the early editions were! Parkinson was picked by three teams, with mainstay Time’s-up Team clocking his first hit of the year.
