PLOUGH A BURROW

The average lifespan of the rhinoceros is from 40 to 45 years. Alas, former Leeds Rhino Rob Burrow landed right in that ballpark, dying aged 41. If only there were a rugby team named after quahog clams he could’ve played for instead. A scrum-half and hooker, he was one of the smallest players at his level of the sport but also one of the most successful with eight Super League titles to his name. He retired in 2017 and was diagnosed with MND two years later. He dedicated the rest of his time to spreading awareness of MND, raising over £6 million for research and becoming a CBE for his noble efforts. The default “pick a young athlete with ALS/MND” pick for the past 2-3 years, most serious contenders picked him with joker picks including top ten entrants Funeral Furore and Expiry Date – 2024.
