Fitness guru Richard Simmons has further slimmed down aged 76. Simmons was a corpulent teenager when taking a one-two regimen of exercise and diet to constrain himself to a healthy weight. He took the exercise market by storm with his Sweatin’ to the Oldies, and was an unmistakable US pop culture figure with his bubbly afro, tank top, and unbridled enthusiasm (perhaps the most obviously gay celebrity to not officially be known to be so).
His effeminacy often made him a media punchline, but he volleyed back with a self-aware sense of humour with guest spots in everything from voicing a pig version of himself in Rocko’s Modern Life to a fan favourite Whose Line is it Anyway? appearance that was one of the few times he lampooned rumours over his sexuality and left Wayne Brady and Drew Carey in stitches. However he declined to voice the evil robot Richard Simmons in The Simpsons due to not wanting to portray a robot. He withdrew from public appearances over the past decade, and was picked by one and two and three and four and five teams.
