Mario Zagallo

STUPORED MARIO

Brazilian football great Mario Zagallo has died aged 92. The forward played on two World Cup winning teams in 1958 and 1962, and was the last survivor of the former after Pelé’s death. He later turned his hand to coaching, and promptly won another World Cup in 1970. Only Franz Beckenbauer and Didier Deschamps have since replicated the feat of winning the Cup as both player and coach. He had been in dwindling health in recent years and was picked by nine teams, including the pesky Pelican.
