Lyle Waggoner

FALLEN OFF THE WAGGON

Lyle Waggoner has died aged 84. A familiar face on US TV in the 1960s and 70s, he was seen in Wonder Woman, and The Love Boat (isn’t that a team?). He also played several characters over seven years and 182 episodes of The Carol Burnett Show. By 1979, he had fallen off the showbiz wagon, and founded Star Waggons, a company which provided film sets with trailers and waggons. Now there’s a case of nominative determination that would have made Terry Nation proud. He also tried to cure male impotence, got appointed mayor of Encino, California by accident, became a sculptor and least surprising of all, starred as a murderer in Murder She Wrote. Well, that just came free with a SAG card in the 1980s.
