Joan Copeland

THE AMERICAN CLOCKED OUT

Broadway and TV actress Joan Copeland has died aged 99. The younger sister of Arthur Miller, she opted to use Copeland for a stage name instead as she wanted to achieve a career through her own merits, rather than from her brotherโ€™s distinctive surname. Copelandโ€™s Broadway career began in the 40s, with particularly acclaimed roles including in Pal Joey and The American Clock. Her segue into TV proved successful as well, with a number of recurring roles in soap operas. She was a hit for two teams.
