Hal Holbrook

RUMOURS OF HIS DEATH GREATLY CONFIRMED

The acting great Hal Holbrook has died aged 95. Holborok, who first came to fame playing Mark Twain in the 1940s, played the author nearly longer than Twain himself did, retiring the role in 2017. He won a Tony for his Twain, five Emmy awards and was nominated for the Oscar for Into the Wild. In All The President’s Men, he played Deep Throat, and he also showed up in films as diverse as Lincoln, The Firm and Creepshow. For many of us, a role that defined him early in our film watching lives was that of doomed Father Malone in John Carpenter’s horror classic The Fog. Holbrook was picked by twelve teams, including Black Penguins of Doom, Eternity Tours, Spookygal 2 and TOETAG4U.
