Giampiero Boniperti

DDP’s TOP SCORER

One of the most legendary Serie A strikers of all time, Giampiero Boniperti has died aged 92. In a fifteen year career with Juventus (he was a one club man), he won five Serie A titles, and scored over 180 goals. He also appeared at two World Cups for Italy (1950, 1954), and was instrumental in recovering the national team in the wake of the SuperGa air disaster, when the talented Torino side of the 1940s (from which most of the Italian first eleven originated) were killed in a plane crash. In his 60s, he spent a term as a member of the European Parliament. He was a unique pick for Kicking Buckets Instead of Balls.
