GENERALISSIMO FRANCISCO GENTO IS STILL DEAD

Arguably Spain’s finest footballer, Francisco Gento has died, aged 88. Nicknamed “Paco”, Gento began his professional career with local team Racing de Santander. His time with them was short-lived, for his talent was noticed by the somewhat-more-prominent Real Madrid, who promptly swooped him up as one of their players.

With Real Madrid, he made his name as part of one of the finest teams in the history of both Real Madrid and all of football. As the quick-footed outside left of a fearsome forward line that included fellow legends Alfredo Di Stéfano and Ferenc Puskas, Gento was part of a dominant force throughout the late 50s and early 60s. Gento won the European Cup 6 times – a statistic that speaks to his talent when only two teams have won more (Real Madrid of course, and AC Milan). Another of his records, that of 23 trophy wins by a Real Madrid player, was equaled by Marcelo days before Gento’s death.

He was a unique hit for football theme KICKING BUCKETS INSTEAD OF BALLS, who won the Theme Team League in 2014 with Alfredo Di Stéfano as part of their offence!
