David Dinkins

MAYOR OF NEWLY DEAD CITY

Former Mayor of New York City, David Dinkins, has died aged 93, shortly after someone opened a thread on the Deathlist forums asking how he was doing these days. Dinkins, who was the first black Mayor of New York, held the post from 1990 to 1993. Under his tenure, the murder rate went down and there was a focus on restoring old housing stock and an increase in creating sheltered housing. Despite this he lost re-election to Rudy Giuliani after Trump’s favourite lawyer played up on the recent Crown Heights riots. His legacy includes restoring some of New York’s old theatres, Times Square, and the rental deal with the ATP over the US Open which brings in New York City to this day one of the largest sports profits in the world. Whereas Rudy’s legacy is appearing in a Borat film…
