Ex RTE presenter Charlie Bird has died aged 74. He was widely respected for a 40-year career that covered 9/11 and the Rwandan genocide, and was a key witness to the Northern Ireland peace process as RTE’s only point of contact with the Provisional IRA. An 2021 ALS diagnosis made him a cult pick in recent years and became a popular lad this go-around after entering hospice last summer. The Living End, Going Underground, and Deathray picked him, as did the fearsome Banana.
