Aston Barrett

GRIM SHOT THE RASTA

Last of the original Wailers, Aston Barrett, has died aged 77. The bassist for the group was seen as an instrumental pioneer in reggae, helping shape the sound of Marley hits like “No Woman, No Cry”, “I Shot the Sheriff”, and “Jamming”. He was nicknamed “Family Man” for seeing his bands as family, and not for the 41 children he later spawned. Barrett was unique for the nefarious Pelican.
