BRITISH FILM OUT-OF-COMMISSIONER
Inaugural British Film Commissioner Sydney Samuelson has had his last cut aged 97. The son of a silent film veteran, Samuelson had been active in the industry since the late 30s and throughout the 50s he filmed the Queen’s coronation and established a reputed film equipment rental company. He was a pillar of BAFTA for many years before being tapped for the British Film Commission post in 1991, after which he retired.
