Miriam Rivera

A name that actually died in February finally climbs down off the List of the Lost, with the wider media finally reporting on their passing. 2004 was a very, very different world to the one we live in today. Frankee and Eamon’s fake lovers’ tiff spawned two #1 singles, Match of the Day 2 started and Rick James and Julia Child died in the same week. And it was OK to have a TV dating show based around the shocking reveal at the end “lol this woman actually has a cock”. You probably couldn’t get away with that these days.

Some called Miriam Rivera Britain’s first trans* TV star (although Terri Rogers was on The Wheeltappers and Shunters Social Club 30 years beforehand). She didn’t go on to have much of a career, and instead went into pornography and escorting. Her death, from hanging, is officially a suicide, but newspaper reports suggest a more sinister ending. You know, like her TV show had.
