Frontman for the band The Delays, Greg Gilbert has died aged 44 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Influenced by the Manic Street Preachers, The Delays were founded in 2001, and produced three top 30 UK albums, including Faded Seaside Glamour and Everything’s The Rush. In 2004 they hit the Top 40 thrice in 12 months, with Long Time Coming (what some might think this hit was), Nearer than Heaven (what he is now) and Lost in a Melody. Greg Gilbert was diagnosed with Stage IV bowel cancer in 2016, but managed to rally with various treatments for several years. He was also an accomplished artist, and was the 26th most popular pick on the DDP in 2021.
