HURRICANE OUSTS BOLANOS

Former Nicaraguan President Enrique Bolanos has died aged 93. Bolanos was President from 2002 to 2007, having previously served as Vice President. He inherited a country devastated by a hurricane, and launched an anti-corruption campaign, which ended in the jailing of his predecessor. Because of this, he spent most of this time in office facing down plots from the establishment to depose him. However, he was also a religious conservative who was anti-gay and wanted 30 year jail terms for any women who had an abortion. In his retirement, he remained a critic of Daniel Ortega. Bolanos was a unique pick for Gooseberry Cru…sorry, force of habit there. A unique pick for Complications from a Fall
