Golfer Chi-Chi Rodriguez has died aged 88. He was the first Puerto Rican player to join the PGA Tour, where he won eight events. His stats were good but not outstanding, but he cut a memorable figure with on-green antics such as playing with his club like a sword or dancing the salsa after making a birdie putt. He was also known for his support of at-risk youth, and had enough pop cultural clout to feature in video games, on the cover of Devo’s debut album, and as the name of a drag queen in To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar. He was picked by the two golf teams and Dr Shipman’s waiting room.
