JUST A MINUTE, MELLYS DEAD

Andree Melly, who died in January aged 87,  has got a qualifying obit some time after the fact. The younger sister of jazz legend George, and the wife of actor Oscar Quitak, Andree was a familiar figure on British stage. An RSC regular, she appear in Merchant of Venice, as well as West End fare like The Killing of Sister George. She was the last surviving regular from Hancock’s Half Hour, and made frequent appearances on Just A Minute. In fact, she was the first person to ever speak for the full 60 seconds on a topic without repetition, deviation or hesitation.

She was picked by two theme teams, Dey Do Die Don’t Dey Doh, and The Retched Pong of British sit-com.
