LOSING AGRIPP ON LIFE

Veteran actress Barbara Young has died aged 92. Long active on West End and as a TV character actress, she left a lasting impression working with screenwriter hubby Jack Pullman when playing Emperor Neroโ€™s domineering mother Agrippina in I, Claudius. In older age she became prominent as a soaps actress, most notably as chatty ex-actress Sadie Hargreaves Lloyd in Family Affairs and Doreen Fenwick, Rita Sullivanโ€™s perky yesteryear friend in Corrie. Other roles included Nora Battyโ€™s sister Stella at the tail end of Last of the Summer Wine, and, yes, Doctors. She was picked by two teams, including joker points for A Bottle of Lucozade and the warm blanket.
