AUDREY LACK

Painter Audrey Flack has died aged 93. She was the most prominent woman in the rise of photorealism, where she preferred to emphasis glamorous items like jewelry rather than the mundane world of pencils. Her planned statue of Queen Catherine of Braganza was poised to be the second tallest statue in NYC after the Statue of Liberty before it was scrapped under a slew of controversies, such as Catherine’s ties to the slave trade and the fact that Queens probably wasn’t actually named after her. Flack was unique for All Death Is Consolation.
