Neil Sheehan

INTO THE BRIGHT SHINING LIGHT

Journalist Neil Sheehan has died aged 84 after a battle with Parkinsons. Sheehan was a reporter in the Vietnam War, helping to uncover the truth of both sides claims on the front line, before he moved to cover Pentagon matters n 1966. IN 1971, he got his hands on Pentagon documents from Daniel Ellsberg discerning the US bombing of Cambodia and Laos during the Vietnam War. Sheehan got the New York Times to publish them, the US government sued the paper, and the US Supreme Court found in favour of publication. Sheehan went on to write several books on his experiences, but preferred the lectureship tour. He was a unique pick for Lt Colonel Kilgore’s Ultimate Surf Party.
