THE REAPER VS LARRY FLYNT
The controversial American publisher Larry Flynt has died aged 78. Flynt founded nudie magazine Hustler and was one of the leading proponents of the free speech debate in the 1970s on. Since 1978 he was wheelchair bound due to being shot in an assassination attempt. He had a long running battle with Jerry Falwell (ebola v covid there) which went to the Supreme Court. This was depicted by Woody Harrelson in The People vs Larry Flynt, a film which decided to cut some of the less savoury aspects of his life from film, such as his racism, his anti-semitism, and his alleged rape of his own daughter. Or the time he tried to shoot his then wife. Or the time he continued to employ an imprisoned child molester. Despite all this, he was championed by people like Woody Allen and Gore Vidal, who also supported Roman Polanski. Now free speech is a vitally important part of public discourse and Flynt was certainly a champion of that, and so it is our free speech responsibility to say he was a bit of a cunt. And no one would have appreciated this write up on the DDP more than Larry Flynt. He also openly admitted to fucking farm animals. He was a unique pick for DDP veterans Mr C.
