MERRY DEATH OF WINDSOR

Popular actor Frank Windsor has died aged 92. One of the original Z-Cars stars, he played DS Watt from 1962 to 1965 in the groundbreaking cop show. He continued to appear on TV for the next 60 years, in everything from The Avengers to Doctor Who, where he played the “cream of Scotland Yard”, figuratively and literally in Ghost Light. In the pilot episode of Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) he played the corrupt businessman responsible for the death of Marty Hopkirk. He was one of the few survivors of the original A for Andromeda, and quickly follows Diana Rigg in dead Bleak House alumni. Alongside his acting, he was also known as the face of a long series of adverts promoting that, if you are over the age of 50, it is never too early to think about life insurance, because everyone is going to die. Windsor has now followed in that long tradition. He was predeceased by his beloved son David who died in a car crash in 1997. He later took his consoling by playing the role of a man in Anchor Me whose son had died and was unable to cope with it, hoping this would help others face events he himself had been unable to.

He was a unique pick for theme team M6 Tolled.
