Dusty Hill

GIMME ALL YOUR DYING, ALL YOUR SNUG CREMATIONS TOO

ZZ Top frontman Dusty Hill has somewhat surprisingly died aged 72. Hill had part of a Zombies tribute act in 1969 when he formed ZZ Top with Frank Beard (who doesn’t have a beard) and Billy Gibbons. They worked together for the next 52 years, and were one of the longest lasting rock bands in the world.  A Sharp Dressed Man, Hill was part of 8 UK top 30 hits, including smash hits Legs and Gimme All Your Lovin’.

Hill survived hepatitis, a fall on his tour bus and once accidentally shooting himself with a Derringer. Who hasn’t done that when drunk in Texas once? When asked about his political affiliation, he would just say he was a proud Texan.

He was a unique hit for Dead Hits, but surely a miss for perennial wooden spoon chasers ZZ Topped.
