BOROUGH A GRAVE MOVEMENT

Mural artist Cliff Holden has died aged 100. He founded the Borough Group movement of artists in 1946, and had paintings in the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Tate. The Guardian says he was a major influence in post WW2 British art but is yet to be given his proper acclaim. He was also a conscientious objector who ran a strike agitation newsletter during World War Two. He was a unique hit for All Death is Consolation, and died in Sweden where he had lived since 1956.
